Hi There

I'm waiting for this unit as well. But considering that the Philips 86cm (Pixel Plus model) has gone down to $3480, I might sway towards the Philips or might even go with the LG DLP RPTV.

Cheers
Richard.

You may want to think about the HD inputs on all the HD-TV's you are considering.

As you're considering HDTV you probably also want to consider higher quality devices , ie HD-STB and DVD.

There are not too many HDTV's with two or more 'real' HD inputs.

I recall only Sony, RankArena and Palsonic are the main ones, any others ?

you'll be happier if you can mix-n-match the components on these HD inputs.

For example in Australia:

1) there are only 2 HD-STB's that can ouput their HD signal on either XGA or Component YPbPr ....ie DGTEC-2000a and Thomson DTI1500HD.

2) there is only one DVD player that can output 576p/1080i on two outputs...DVI-analogue-to-XGA and Component YPbPr.....ie Momitsu V880 (although it does have a 1080i/50Hz problem on Component YPbPr...that's about to be rectified.....we hope).

This alone should cause you to want to buy the Palsonic.......

Just another thought.

The Palsonic 76cm does have 2 HD input: XGA and component. But it only have one set of audio inputs. So one of these devices will have to output their audio to an amp/receiver. Can be a pain having to turn the receiver on to listen to the Sony DVD.

Unless someone has already thought of an answer.

Surely if you got thus far in your HT, you'll want to decode DD5.1 and/or DTS (where applicable) with a HT receiver and 5.1 speaker setup, rather than listen to plain stereo PCM through the TV's speakers?

The Panasonic QTR-2140 STB has xVGA and Progressive outputs as well (providing it is working and not at the repair shop tongue.gif )
